Gene Bunnell is author of the book "Making Places Special: Stories of Real Places Made Better by Planning." Bunnell takes you behind the scenes in 10 exceptional “best” places -- from tiny Block Island, R.I. to booming San Diego, Calif. -- where good planning triumphed. Bunnell is an adjunct professor in the urban studies programs at Vassar College and New School University. He is former director of planning and development for the city of Northampton, Mass. Bunnell will be the keynote speaker on Monday. |
Gordy Sheer is a three-time Olympian in doubles luge. Along with his partner, Chris Thorpe, Gordy won 28 international medals, including the 1997 overall World Cup doubles' title, two World Championship silver medals and the 1998 Olympic silver medal. An Ohio State graduate, Gordy retired from competitive sliding in May 2000 and is now USA Luge's Marketing Director. Sheer will be the welcoming speaker Sunday evening. |
